This 2016 Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG Is A Rare V12-Powered Beast
The days of big-capacity engines from Mercedes-Benz are coming to an end as the automaker continues with the downsizing trend and pursues an aggressive electrification strategy. Fortunately, there are still plenty of used Mercedes models out there with big, brutish engines, and this G65 AMG is one of them.
This G65 AMG is a 2016 model and is being offered with service records, owner’s manuals, a transferable warranty, the original window sticker, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title. It has 28,000 miles under its belt and is about as antisocial as an SUV can get.
The highlight of the G65 AMG is, of course, its 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged M275 V12 AMG engine, a powertrain that is no longer being produced. This engine powered vehicles including the S 65 AMG, CL 65 AMG, and the insane SL 65 AMG Black Series. Heck, even the twin-turbo V12 used by the Pagani Huayra is based on the M275. In the flagship G-Class, it delivers 621 hp and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque, more than the current 2021 G63 AMG with its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 rated at 577 hp and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm).
All of this power is sent to the pavement through all four wheels and a seven-speed AMG Speedshift Plus transmission. As with other G-Class models, the off-roader also features locking front, center, and rear differentials, while the Bring A Trailer listing reveals this G65 has also been equipped with an Akrapovic exhaust system.
