During engine operation, cylinder firing causes the crankshaft to twist back and forth a small amount creating torsional vibration along the shaft. The harmonic balancer, also known as the vibration damper, absorbs and dissipates this energy to prevent the crankshaft from cracking and breaking. The balancer consists of an inertia ring, usually made of cast iron, mounted on a cast iron hub and separated by a rubber cushion. The rubber deteriorates with age and exposure to heat, oil, and the environment, causing the ring to become loose on the hub. This can result in wobble, excessive vibration, and crankshaft failure.
When you are looking for the replacement part that ensures enhanced performance and increased service life at an affordable price, choose this product by Dayco. It’s constructed to ensure a precise fit and designed using both inserted and pressure-bonded rubber to provide rubber strength that is three times greater than stock. Featuring a SG (Spheroidal Graphite) iron casting, which is near steel in strength, this balancer delivers increased service life.
