Powerful Twin-Turbo Special G63 Edition Dropped By Mercedes-AMG
AMG is the high-performance division of Mercedes. This year, they celebrate their 55th anniversary – in a big way. AMG revealed a Mercedes in a special design, specifically made for this critical 2022 anniversary. The vehicle is known as the Edition 55, sleek and stylish in all the best ways. This vehicle is the second special edition in recent history – the first was the gorgeous CLA 45 S. Edition 55 is a powerful, Special G63 SUV that serves as a monument to all that AMG has accomplished in its years on the market thus far.
There is one flaw with this anniversary release, at least on the outside – there aren’t many exterior features that separate the Edition 55 from other G63 vehicles already on the market. On the outside, you can look for exterior graphics on the lower doors, the AMG Night Package with black hints all over the car, and 22-inch forged wheels with a multi-spoke design. These additions are subtle, so interested drivers will really need to look to notice an Edition 55 from the outside. If you live in the United States, you will only find the vehicle in an Obsidian Black Metallic option. If your home is elsewhere, others may be available to you in terms of color and style.
The subtlety shifts once you head inside the vehicle. The interior makes it very clear that this vehicle works to commemorate the 55th anniversary of AMG’s creation. Gorgeous black and red alternate inside to create a flashy appearance, particularly on the door panels and the leather seats. You’ll find much more indication of the ‘55’ celebration on the inside than the outside – it’s on the steering floor, doormats, and more. Matte carbon fiber provides a sleek look for the instrument panel, infotainment system, center console, and door trim. The celebration is more prevalent on the inside than on the outside of the AMG vehicle.
You’ll note an impressive performance potential hidden inside the Special G63 Edition 55. It’s equipped with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8. With this engine, the car gets to experience 577 horsepower fed right to a non-speed automatic transmission. Or the power drifts to an all-wheel-drive system with three locking differentials. It’s an incredible car and a powerful feat of engineering. The Edition 55 can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds – despite weighing in at three tons. It’s tricky to believe it unless you see it yourself.
It’s critical to note that the Edition 55 is, in fact, a special edition car. As with many special editions, only a few will appear on the market – for this particular vehicle, fifty-five will stick with the anniversary theme in the United States. You can find this car later in the year. Mercedes hasn’t released any information about the price for this vehicle, but we’ll likely see that later in the year. With any luck, you might be able to get your hands on one when the release happens.
