Mercedes G-class Hits the Dirt…and Doesn’t Melt
A small percentage of our clients do take their vehicles off-road. Some have driven cross-county, or spent months touring Canada’s mountains and forests. One client is planning a trip now, departing Texas and heading to Argentina, in his Mercedes G63 AMG. But the other 98% typically use their vehicle to get the kids to school, make their tee time, or tackle the nearest shopping mall. No judgment here. The G-class is fun to drive.
And it’s even more fun to drive when it’s lifted with 33″ or 35 tires. The stock vehicle has a presence, but with a 2-inch or 4-inch lift kit and larger tires, it takes on a whole new persona. You can see our G500 with a 4-inch lift kit parked next to a stock G500 — what a difference! In the photo gallery below, you can see this G-class with a G63 Facelift, 4-inch lift kit, 22-inch Forgelite wheels with a very aggressive offset (the DTD fender flares are 2″ wider than the G63 fender flares), and 35-inch tires.
Of course, for off-roading, a 22″ wheel is not ideal. We’re looking at 16″ Hutchinson Beadlock wheels, or maybe an 18″ wheel, to get more tire. We’re also planning to install a front skid plate and rear skid plate.
