Old Man Emu’s aftermarket 4WD suspension systems are designed with meticulous engineering and attention to detail. Unlike generic options, OME offers a range of tailored solutions to ensure the perfect fit for your vehicle and driving needs.
Design & Development
Old Man Emu engineers focused on creating a balanced suspension system for the Mercedes G Wagon that prioritizes lift, load-carrying capacity, and comfort. By analyzing the original suspension setup, they identified areas for improvement, such as excessive bump stop engagement on rough roads.
To address these issues, OME developed a 50mm lift kit that increases ground clearance and suspension travel, allowing for more precise shock tuning. This results in a more comfortable ride without compromising control.
Front Suspension
- Springs: OME developed new springs with increased spring rates to maintain vehicle control. Two spring options are available to accommodate different vehicle configurations.
- Shock Absorbers: To match the ride quality to the new spring rates, OME engineers designed longer travel shock absorbers that offer a comfortable ride while maintaining excellent control.
Rear Suspension
- Springs: OME’s tapered wire progressive rate springs provide a comfortable ride when empty and can also handle heavy loads.
- Shock Absorbers: Longer travel shock absorbers are tuned to match the rear coil springs, ensuring comfort, control, and increased travel.

- Front Springs
- Front Shocks
- Rear Springs
- Rear Shocks
- Approximately 50 mm lift F & R
Notes:
- The first two pictures show the kit with 305/55-20 tires (overall diameter = 33.21″).
- A spacer kit was added to provide more clearance on the inside at full lock, while moving the wheels out flush with the fender arches.
- No rubbing or codes were encountered.
- The vehicle pictured does not have the OEM Electronic Damping Control system (e.g., Comfort).
