Carlex G-Vintage: A Retro-Inspired AMG G 63 with Modern Performance
Carlex Design, based in Poland, has grown from a family enterprise into a leader in the luxury car and private jet industry. Initially focused on revamping car interiors with bespoke materials and unique styling, Carlex has evolved into a powerhouse in automotive tuning and customization. Their work, characterized by exquisite attention to detail, speaks for itself through numerous high-profile commissions, including Ferraris, Mercedes-AMGs, Ram 1500 TRXs, BMW X7s, and more.
Recently, Carlex has shifted its focus towards crossovers, SUVs, and pickup trucks, moving away from passenger cars. This transition has only enhanced their customization capabilities. For example, the company curated the Himalaya collection, featuring seven of the world’s most luxurious SUVs and elevating them to new heights. The collection was headlined by the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and included the Mercedes-AMG G 63, Lamborghini Urus, Ferrari Purosangue, Aston Martin DBX, Range Rover, and Bentley Bentayga.
Despite their diverse portfolio, it seems that Carlex has a special affinity for the iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Following the success of the Himalaya collection, they unveiled the stunning G-Falcon bespoke project, which took four years to complete using the Mercedes-AMG G 63. Now, they have introduced the G-Vintage series, designed to give the AMG G 63 a nostalgic 1979 look, perfect for those who want to relive the era of roller-dancing to Abba and the Bee Gees.
The official renderings of the G-Vintage showcase a vehicle with retro-inspired features such as steel hubcaps color-coordinated with the main body hue, dual-color body treatments, chrome bumpers and mirrors, and more. The interior reflects Carlex’s expertise, with maroon leather, glossy black trim, and vintage-looking woodgrain in the luggage compartment, making a bold statement of luxury and craftsmanship.
But the G-Vintage is not just about looks. Under the hood, it boasts 805 horsepower and 1,020 Nm (752 lb-ft) of torque, allowing it to reach a top speed of 260 kph (162 mph). Despite its retro appearance, the G-Vintage offers modern safety and comfort features on par with a 2024 model. It includes ABS, ESP, ten airbags, 360-degree cameras, active safety and driver assistance systems, and LED lamps throughout the interior and exterior.
The G-Vintage series allows customers to choose from various color options, adding a personal touch to their retro-inspired SUV. While the hero pink-white dual-tone color scheme is a standout, our favorite is the light green option.
Carlex Design continues to push the boundaries of automotive customization, blending vintage aesthetics with modern performance and safety features. The G-Vintage series is a testament to their commitment to creating unique and luxurious vehicles that cater to discerning clients who appreciate both style and substance. Whether you’re a fan of retro looks or cutting-edge technology, the Carlex G-Vintage offers a compelling combination of both, making it a standout in the world of luxury SUVs.
