Brabus 900 Adventure XLP
The original Brabus 900 XLP was a stretched-out G-class pick-up from Mercedes-Benz AMG, with special attention from the famed German tuner. Brabus made the G-Wagen incredibly popular among those that could afford them and introduced the world to one of the most powerful pickup trucks in the world.
What Is The Brabus XLP & Who Makes It?
Brabus is a high-performance aftermarket tuning company that specializes in Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, and Smart vehicles. They also tune Porches and Rolls-Royce, but they specialize in Mercedes-AMG models. Brabus has been customizing vehicles for more than 40 years and has consistently pushed for more displacement, more boost, and more overall horsepower.
Brabus is known not only for making some of the most expertly-tuned high-performance supercars and trucks on the road today but they are also known for striving toward consistent and functional innovation. They design more and more opulent and luxurious interiors, more innovative safety measures, and more eco-friendly supercar performance. In short, they aim for breaking more records with every passing model year.
The Brabus 900 Adventure XLP is only the next logical evolution of this drive for more and better. The Brabus 900 Adventure XLP is a highly-tuned super truck that is available in Superblack and Superwhite versions. They are the epitome of the Brabus drive for elegance and performance, all with added off-road flair.
Love At First Sight
Some of the exterior attention and upgrades that have been given to the 2022 Brabus 900 Adventure XLP includes a special body kit, increased length, forged wheels, and some off-road goodies. The Widestar body kit includes upgrading the bumpers, grille, vented hood, fender width, side, steps, side-mounted exhaust pipes, and grille, to include carbon fiber accents.
The Brabus 900 Adventure XLP includes a full pickup conversion that includes a dual-cab cabin. The length of the Brabus 900 has been stretched out to 17.4 feet, or 5.31 meters. Some of the off-road swag that comes with the XLP include additional LEDs attached to the roof rack for premium illumination, a winch on the front, and a full-sized spare mounted into the pickup bed.
The XLP Is Off-Road Ready
Also, included are Brabus 24-inch Monoblock Z forged wheels. Brabus says the wheels are specifically designed for the heavy-duty, off-road use that the XLP is created to withstand. The wheels are wrapped in top-of-the-line Pirelli Scorpion 325/55 R22 ATR rubber. To keep those wheels and tires firmly planted, the Adventure’s suspension has been given a full overhaul by Brabus.
The front and rear portal axles were designed by the German tuner specifically for the 900 XLP, and give the beast a massive vertical clearance of 19.2 inches. These shocks are completely adjustable with the custom Brabus Ride Control system and are constructed mostly from milled aluminum billet. To easily get into and out of your beautiful lifted Brabus, here are electronically-operated step bars or running boards.
The Power Behind The Nameplate
What makes the Brabus 900 Adventure XLP special is the mountain of horsepower that it creates in the power plant. The 4.5L V8 Brabus Rocket has twin turbos that are tuned to create 900 HP and 1,000 Newton-meters of torque. This monstrous amount of power is delivered to the wheels by a 9-speed 4wd automatic transmission.
This power and delivery can launch the Brabus 900 Adventure XLP with unbelievable acceleration. Even with its size, the XLP can breach 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, and although Brabus has limited the top speed to 130 mph electronically, the tuner maintains that the pickup is one of the fastest pickup trucks on the planet. Even if that’s true, few drivers would be foolhardy enough to take this G-Wagen to its maximum potential.
To help vent that beast of an engine, Brabus created a high-performance exhaust system that features actively controlled exhaust valves that feed the stainless steel pipes. The steel pipes feature full trim in carbon fiber to match the trim and accents on the rest of the truck. The active valves make sure that the backpressure is reduced as much as possible while retaining the unbeatable throaty sound of the powerful exhaust. The exhaust system even features an active sound management system that can let the driver switch between the full, powerful, V8 growl of Sport mode, to a far more subtle and stealthy sound profile in Coming Home mode. The sound can be adjusted at the touch of a button at the control center.
Unbeatable Extras
One of the coolest things about the Brabus XLP is the Wingcopter eVTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) drone that is built into the bed. Developed by a German drone company specifically to cater to emergency search and rescue situations, it can help shuttle supplies to people that are stuck in areas that may be impassable by road or otherwise stranded in remote areas. This means that even if your XLP can’t get where people need it, you may still be able to help get them the gear and supplies they need to survive.
The interior is crafted in the “Brabus Masterpiece” theme, with bespoke leather upholstery on just about everything, from the seats to the footwells and door cards, and even many of the trim pieces. Where there isn’t leather, there’s carbon fiber to add to the beautiful and opulent monochrome appearance inside.
What Exactly Is The Price Of Performance Luxury?
To get your very own Brabus 900 XLP, and all that it entails, it’s going to run you about €726,000, or more than $830,000. Additionally, due to the craftsmanship that goes into the all-leather interior and the general customization and tuning that each unit requires, you’ll need to give Brabus a 6 to 12-month lead time to build, trim, and outfit your personalized model.
You can get an ordinary, non-Brabus version of the XLP, or just a run-of-the-mill Mercedes-AMG G-Class for about one-fifth of the Brabus tag, but you’ll also be missing out on an incredible amount of added features, and unbeatable functionality and performance.
