DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT:
The primary goal for the Old Man Emu suspension engineers was to create an integrated suspension system for the Mercedes G-Class W463 that balances lift, load carrying capacity, and comfort. The original suspension setup was evaluated, and while it offered a controlled and sporty ride, it frequently engaged the bump stops on larger bumps, indicating a firm ride quality. By targeting a 50mm lift, the engineers aimed to enhance ground clearance and increase suspension travel. This additional travel allows for better shock tuning, resulting in a more compliant and comfortable ride while maintaining excellent control.
FRONT SUSPENSION:
Springs: To improve vehicle control, the engineers developed a significant increase in spring rate over the original equipment (OE) springs. Two spring options were created to accommodate vehicles with and without accessories, as well as those with different engine configurations.
Shock Absorbers: A comprehensive development, tuning, and testing project was conducted to match the ride quality to the new spring rate. The result was a longer travel shock absorber that offers a more comfortable ride while ensuring excellent control across all driving conditions.
REAR SUSPENSION:
Springs: The rear suspension features a tapered wire progressive rate spring designed to provide a supple and comfortable ride when the vehicle is empty, while still offering the capacity to carry loads when necessary. This progressive rate spring caters to vehicles that need an optimized ride quality but also occasionally carry loads.Shock Absorbers: The rear shock absorbers were developed to match the rear coil springs, providing enhanced comfort, control, and increased travel.
This 50mm lift kit for the Mercedes G-class W463 includes the following components:

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
The first two pictures provided feature a vehicle equipped with 305/55-20 tires, which have an overall diameter of 33.21 inches. A spacer kit was added to increase clearance on the inside at full lock, ensuring the wheels sit flush with the fender arches. This setup resulted in no rubbing and no error codes. It is important to note that the vehicle pictured does not have the OEM Electronic Damping Control system (e.g., Comfort mode).
For vehicles equipped with a front bar or winch, this lift kit is specifically designed to accommodate these accessories. For those without a front bar or winch, a different kit is available to meet their needs.
