900-HP Mansory G63 Is The Epitome Of Excess
The Gronos Evo S P900 is limited to just ten examples.
If the Mercedes-AMG G63 is too demure for your tastes, there are several tuning companies on hand to create something with even more presence. Perhaps the best known of them all is Brabus, the German company specializing in transforming Stuttgart’s luxury vehicles into road-going missiles. One of its more recent creations is the aptly-named 900 Rocket Edition. With 900 hp and 774 lb-ft of torque, it’s got more power than anyone would realistically need.
Not to be outdone, Mansory has just unveiled its riposte to the Rocket. With the same amount of horsepower as the Brabus but more torque (approx. 885 lb-ft), it is even more extreme. Mansory hasn’t said just how quick the Gronos Evo S P900 is, but we assume it can hit 60 mph far quicker than the standard G63’s claimed 4.5 second sprint time.
Those impressive power figures are quickly forgotten once you catch a glimpse of the Gronos Evo S P900. In typical Mansory fashion, it is gaudy and devoid of any subtlety. The G63 is already a handsome brute and, as such, is sensitive to any lairy styling additions. While the wide-body kit is modest (by Mansory standards, at least), the rear wing and hood scoop have no place on a luxury SUV.
Things aren’t helped by the liberal application of forged carbon fiber. When used sparingly, it looks rather good. But in this case, Mansory has applied it to nearly every panel, including the large-diameter wheels. It is at least distinctive and will certainly stand out in a sea of G-Wagons. Mansory has said that customers can choose to personalize their Gronos Evo S P900s in an assortment of shades.
Inside, it’s not much better. Plush leather lines just about every surface in the premium cabin, but it’s been finished in a rather gaudy shade of orange. Thankfully, customers can opt to have the cockpit trimmed in more tasteful hues. The metal brightwork found in the cabin has also been treated to the citrus tint and almost looks like copper. Perhaps with a darker upholstery scheme, this could work nicely.
If you’re hoping to get your hands on one of these uniquely-styled Gelandewagens in the US, sadly, you’re out of luck. Mansory plans to build just 10 examples and they’re all destined for the Middle East.
