4″ Lift Kit for Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG

While most G-class owners would agree the G550 4×4² would be a really cool vehicle to have in the garage (if it would fit), but there are a few reasons a G63 AMG owner may choose a 2″ or 4″ lift kit instead.

First, let’s be clear. There is no comparison. Some benefits of portal axles are increased height, width, axle clearance, gear reduction in the portal housing, limited impact on suspension geometry, and several other benefits.

In some cases, those benefits are also drawbacks. The overall height limits where you can park, as does the overall width. Another issue is ingress and egress; without electric sidesteps, it’s a genuine challenge. And then there’s the price tag.

For those reasons, a number of G63 owners have opted for a 4″ lift kit instead of buying a 4×4². The 4″ lift gives the vehicle a much larger presence. With 35″ tires, there is a net 6″ increase in height, and approximately a 4″ increase in width (depending on offset, tire size, and spacer size). The vehicle below has custom DTD Fender Flares that are 2″ wider than the G63 flares, so we had to use larger H&R spacers up front, and custom 75mm spacers in the rear (using a stock offset wheel). The end result is an even wider, more aggressive and rugged set up.

Note: We’ll be putting on a different set of wheels with a much lower offset, and ditching the spacers, so please check back.

The 4″ lift kit is comprised of springs, spring spacers, shocks, adjustable track bars front/rear to re-center the axles, new front radius arms to correct the caster, and wheels spacers front/rear.
