2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class dual-cab ute revealed! AMG G 63 gets wild Brabus 800 Adventure XLP Super black makeover with huge power to outmuscle Ram 1500 TRX
Renowned German tuner Brabus has revealed its latest take on the Mercedes-AMG G63 off-roader, a dual-cab pick-up with massive power and torque outputs.
The aptly named 800 Adventure XLP Super black removes the rear section of the G63’s roof and its D-pillars to create an open tub with an oddly side-hinged tailgate. It’s not a large storage area, but it’s certainly something.
There’s also a sports bar to hammer home the point, as well as a spare wheel carrier, a roof rack and a heavy-duty cable windle.
The 800 Adventure XLP Superblack even gets front and rear portal axles. And let’s not forget the 22-inch Monoblock HD forged alloy wheels.
Otherwise, the 800 XLP Superblack is similar to the Brabus-tuned G63s that came before it, with it finished in Obsidian Black metallic paintwork and featuring a wide body kit and a sports exhaust system with carbon-fibre tailpipe surrounds.
Inside, the 800 Adventure XLP Super black stands out from the crowd with full leather upholstery with ‘seashell’ diamond quilting, and extensive carbon-fiber trim, including on the steering wheel and grab handles.
Of course, Brabus had a play under the bonnet, too, with the 800 Adventure XLP Superblack taking the G63’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 engine and turning the wick up to a ridiculous 588kW of power (+158kW) and 1000Nm of torque (+150Nm).
With a nine-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system in tow, the 800 Adventure XLP Superblack can accelerate from a standstill to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds while on the way to its electronically limited top speed of 210km/h.
As such, the 800 Adventure XLP Superblack finds itself going to tyre with tyre with other super utes, including the Ram 1500 TRX and its 522kW/869Nm 6.2-litre supercharged petrol V8 engine and 4.5s 0-60mph (0-97km/h) sprint time.
